Mission, Goals, and Outcomes

The Mission for Marywood University Coordinated Program in Nutrition and Dietetics is to provide a broad based educational curriculum that includes preparation in the liberal arts as well as coordinated nutrition/dietetic theory and practice, which is based on CADE foundation knowledge and skills, core competencies, and general area of emphasis. This educational framwork provides the knowledge, skills, and values required to practice as competent entry-level dietitians/nutritionists, but also for the flexibility which permits changing roles and the development of skills needed for future specializations, which the students wish to pursue. The goals of the program are:

GOAL 1. To provide quality didactic and supervised practice learning experiences that prepare students to be competent entry-level dietitians.

OUTCOMES

1. The average score on the National Registration Examination for Dietitians for first-time candidates will be at least 80%.

2. On senior program evaluations, 90% of the knowledge, skills, and competency statements will be selected as competent or highly competent with a mean for each of 2 (competent) or better.

3. On 1-year graduate evaluations, 90% of the competency statements will each have a mean of 2 (competent) or better.

4. On 1-year employer evaluations, 90% of the competency statements will each have a mean of 2 (competent) or better.

5. At least 80% of the students will complete the program.

6. By senior year, 100% of the graduates will complete a portfolio.

GOAL 2. To prepare graduates to be succesfully employed in their fields, attend graduate school, or pursue other career options.

OUTCOMES

1. On graduate evaluations, 80% of the graduates will be successfully employed in the field of dietetics or have other career options.

2. On graduate evaluations, 90% of the respondents will indicate that they would recommend Marywood University.

3. On employer evaluations, 90% of employers will indicate that they would hire a Marywood University graduate.
