Opportunities
A) Endowed ScholarshiplInstitutional Funds
Full-time
and part-time graduate students are invited to make
application for the
following scholarships which are awarded each
academic year:
The I.H.M. Graduate Scholarship was founded in 1983
by the Sisters, Servants
of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who teach in a
special summer project.
The Sister M. Cuthbert Donovan Scholarship was
founded by Sister M. Cuthbert
Donovan, I.H.M., Dean Emerita, to provide tuition
scholarships on the basis of
academic merit and need to alumnae/alumni of
Marywood University for
attendance in the Graduate Program.
The Eugene L. Raymond Memorial Scholarship was
established in 1966 in
memory of Eugene L. Raymond, a charter member of
the Development Council
of Marywood University. Income from this endowment
is made available for
scholarships to worthy students who are being
trained to work among children in
the fields of psycho-education and
psychotherapy.
The Sister M. Bernardina McAndrew Scholarship was
established in 1974 by
Sister M. Bernardina, I.H.M., to provide
scholarship assistance to a graduate
psychology student on the basis of academic merit
and need.
The Irene Dupont Scholarship was established in
1974 to support scholarship
assistance to students of business and computer
science.
The John Timko, Jr. Scholarship was established in
1980 to provide scholarship
assistance to graduate students in business.
The Hughes Family Scholarship was established in
1985 by Sister M. Constance
Melvin, I.H.M., in honor of Mary M. Hughes and her
parents, Mary A. and
Michael Hughes, to provide scholarship assistance,
on the basis of academic
merit, for study in librarianship and/or media.
The Saint Bridget Scholarship was established in
1987 to provide scholarship
support to students in the Graduate Program, on the
basis of
academic merit.
The Dr. James Golden Memorial Scholarship was
established in 1990 by thefamily, friends and
former students of the late Dr. Golden to provide
scholarship support to a student pursuing a
graduate degree in Counseling.
The
Graduate Student Council Scholarship was
established in 1989 by The Graduate Student Council
and other friends of the University. Income from
this endowment provides scholarship assistance to
students on the basis of academic achievement and
financial need.
The Thalia Ann Thomas Endowed Scholarship was
established by Ms. Thomas
in 1997 to provide assistance to candidates for the
M.A. in Art Therapy or MFA
degree.
I.H.M. Scholarships are made possible through the
contributed services of the
Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
These scholarships cover
partial tuition (exclusive of fees) for a limited
number of graduate students each
academic year. Awards are made on the basis of
academic merit and financial
need.
B) Graduate
Assistantships
Marywood University provides a limited number of
Graduate assistant
opportunities that are designed to further the
educational and career goals of
graduate students, as well as advance the
well-being of the University's
academic programs and services. Graduate
assistantship positions approved
are for the equivalent of eighteen credits of
academic coursework per academic
year. In addition, assistants are paid a monthly
stipend for 15-20 hours of
academic service per week. Further information can
be obtained from the Office
of the Dean, College of Health and Human
Services.
C) Honor
Societies

Sigma
Theta Tau International Honor Society for
Nursing: Xi Gamma Chapter. The
mission is to recognize superior
achievement and development of
leadership
qualities, to foster high professional
standards, to encourage creative work and
to
strengthen commitment to the ideals and
purposes of the profession.

Alpha
Epsilon Lambda Honor Society is the
national honor society of graduate and
professional students. The mission of
Alpha Epsilon Lambda is to:
- confer
distinction for high
achievement
- promote
leadership development
- promote
scholarship and enrich intellectual
development
- enrich
the intellectual environment of
graduate educational
institutions
- encourage
high standards of ethical behavior
Student eligibility is based on high
academic, achievement community service
and leadership.

Marywood
Chapter American College of Health Care
Executives (ACHCE) Objectives are to
provide career information in the area of
health care management, to develop an
association with local and regional
healthcare executive groups to enhance
academic and career opportunities, to
promote educational development of skills
necessary for the effective leadership in
health care organizations and to provide a
method of involvement, recognition, and
representation in the profession of health
care management.

D) Housing and
Residence Life
The Housing and Residence Life Office is committed
to providing a community
which supports the academic mission of the
University and fosters the
development of an environment in which the rights
and responsibilities of each
person are respected.
On-campus housing is available for full-time
graduate students. Part-time
graduate students may request housing which is
allocated on a space available
basis. Information regarding off-campus housing,
may be obtained by calling
(570) 348-6246. The Housing and Residence Life
Office is located on the
second floor of the Nazareth Student Center.
