Ensembles

Large and small musical ensembles are open to all Marywood students by audition or permission of the instructor. In addition some ensembles are open to community volunteers.

Campus Choir is a large mixed chorus of music majors, non-majors and community volunteers. No audition is required, but potential members should contact the Director to be assigned a voice part. All undergraduate freshmen and sophomore music majors are required to participate in Campus Choir.

Chamber Singers is a 12- to 20- voice select ensemble of mostly music majors and requires an audition for admission.

Orchestra is a large ensemble of all orchestral instruments (strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion), consisting of music majors, non-majors and community volunteers. Permission of the Director is required for participation. All string music majors are required to participate in Orchestra.

Wind Ensemble is a large symphonic-band type of ensemble consisting of woodwinds, brass and percussion instruments. Members include music majors, non-majors and community volunteers. Permission of the Director is required for participation. All woodwind, brass, and percussion music majors are required to participate in Wind Ensemble.

Woodwind Ensemble is an ensemble of woodwind music majors.

Jazz Ensemble is a small to medium ensemble of traditional jazz instruments

Brass Ensemble is an ensemble of brass music majors.

Percussion Ensemble is an ensemble of percussion music majors.

Chamber Music Ensembles are individualized small groups of instruments that concentrate on strings and piano, but may contain any instruments.

Guitar Ensemble is an ensemble of classical guitar music majors.

Flute Ensemble is an ensemble of flute music majors.

Piano Class is instruction in piano in a group setting of 12 electronic keyboards, open to music majors and non-majors. All non-keyboard music majors must participate in piano class or piano lessons.
