Are scholarships available?
There is a scholarship fund dedicated to doctoral students.
Each year at least 70 percent of doctoral students who apply for a
scholarship receive an award. Application forms may be downloaded
from this website.
Are the GRE'S required?
Yes, they are absolutely requried, and must be taken within
the last five years however there is no cut-off score required.
Do you offer Graduate Assistantships?
There is one competitive assistantship offered per year for
doctoral students.
Is there a time limit to the program?
All work must be completed within 7 years of the beginning of
doctoral studies.
When are the courses offered?
Courses are primarily offered on weekday evenings during the
Fall, Spring and Summer.
Are courses offered during the summer?
Yes. Specialization courses are often offered during the
summer session.
How many courses must I take during a semester?
During the first 1 1/2 years of the program the student's are
expected to take the interdisciplinary and research courses with
their cohort. This takes the form of two courses (7 credits) per
semester for the first Fall, Spring and subsequent Fall semesters. In
exceptional cases this requirement can be waived.
Is there a comprehensive examination?
Students must, upon completion of coursework, make a written
and oral presentation which is a response to a reflective question
which integrates ethical principles and specialty areas in an
interdisciplinary context. Three faculty evaluate the presentation.
Upon receiving an "acceptable" rating the student becomes a Ph.D.
candidate.
