MAJOR AND MINOR

The major in French or Spanish requires 30 semester hours, beyond
the required 101 and 102, for students seeking K-12 certification.
Included in these 30 hours is a three-credit course in ENGL 400,
Structure of English. A student seeking certification in majors other than education must take 33 semester hours in the major language, excluding
101 and 102.

A student who concentrates in one foreign language is urged to begin the study of a second foreign language. A double major in (French and Spanish) may be pursued by taking 30 credits in one and 24 in the other excluding 101 and 102 level. All those who wish to concentrate in language study are strongly encouraged to study abroad.

A minor in Spanish or French fits into any professional track. For just 18 credits beyond elementary language classes (101 and 102), you can maximize your education. Go global and distinguish yourself from other job candidates while increasing your earning potential. If your semester load is already heavy, think summer session abroad and one or two semesters past the core requirement.
