Who Should Minor in Art History?

Anyone interested in history or the arts
Art history draws upon many other disciplines, and develops skills in analytical thinking and research. It is the perfect complement to history, arts administration, English, philosophy, theater, and other majors—even the sciences

Art Students
Art history is an attractive option for majors in studio art and art education, since these programs already require up to 12 credits in art history, which count toward the minor. Art history is a natural parallel to studio training, strengthening the content and articulation of a student's own art.

Educators
Art history can give teahers of all grade levels an edge in today's job market, where interdisciplinary studies are emphasized and art history is often part of the curriculum.

Anyone interested in careers in art history
The minor helps prepare for admissions to graduate school in art history, leading to rewarding careers in museum and gallery work, teaching, and research.
