Marywood University's MFA Program
for Graphic Designers and Illustrators

This is a special delivery system for a 60 credit Master of Fine Arts Degree in Visual Arts with concentrations in Illustraton and Graphic Design. It was specifically designed for working art directors, ad designers, illustrators and teachers of art who have to budget their time and resources carefully, while continuing their full time occupations. While production and technical skills are stressed, the thrust of this program is on creativity and conceptual design and illustration. One third (20 cr), are delivered through independent creative problem solving experiences and individual strategies for marketing their art. Two thirds (40 cr.), are conducted through lectures, classes and tutorials.

You can continue working at your current job and earn a fully accredited Master of Fine Arts degree at the same time. Our intensely concentrated, results-oriented program was designed for highly motivated, professionally active graphic designers, art directors, illustrators and teachers who wish to advance their careers but not quit their jobs. Spending two weeks of your next four summers on campus, plus intervening fall and spring study tours in New York city, is all that's required. Your own motivation will determine how much additional time you devote to your independent projects.

This Program Works!
This unique program is intense...the instructors demanding...the rewards profoundly enriching. The challenging and inspiring creative atmosphere is fueled by constant interaction between you and your peers. You'll thrive on the creative energy generated between students and faculty.

Our graduates have sold major projects and have had more than forty illustrated children's books published by publishers such as Bantam Books, Bradbury Press
and HarperCollins.
