The Pre-Professional Physician Assistant Program is designed to provide students with liberal arts and with science courses needed in order to apply to the professional phase of the program.  Admission to the Pre-PA program is selective, as students must maintain high standards required for admittance to the professonal phase. All Pre-PA students must apply and pass admission standards in order to enter the professional phase of the program

To make a constructive difference in others' lives... to help relieve pain...to guide people to health... these are some of life's greatest joys known by physicians and nurses.  A career as a Physician Assistant also offers these opportunities and much more.  The Physician Assistant (PA) is a skilled medical provider who is trained and qualified to provide health care in a variety of health care settings, as well as in medical and surgical specialty services under the supervision of a licensed physician. Upon completion of the formal educational program, the Physician Assistant is trained to:

  • assist in surgery
  • perform minor surgical procedures
  • prescribe drugs (in 41 states)
  • obtain a patient's medical history
  • perform a comprehensive physical exam
  • complete routine diagnostic tests
  • establish diagnoses
  • implement treatment plans for common illnesses
  • respond appropriately to life threatening emergencies
  • provide patient education and proper referral

Accreditation:

  • The Physician Assistant Program has recieved accreditation by The Commission for Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Program.
