At times, you might feel like your college friends and days are very far away, removed from where you are today: physically, socially, or emotionally. Perhaps you just graduated and you feel lost in your career search, perhaps you moved and long to connect with someone, perhaps you haven’t been back to campus in a decade, or perhaps you are just looking for ways to give back to the interdependent world you have come to know. Your Alumni Board is digging deep and creatively exploring ways to connect you to the place you once called home, Marywood.
At our February Board meeting, we had two very intense breakout sessions. The first session brought out many great ideas about Marywood’s chapters and Young Alumni. The board was asked, “Where do you see Marywood’s chapters and Young Alumni group a year from now?” This ignited a plethora of topics including, “What defines someone as Young Alumni?” and “Where can we start new chapters?” We hope that in the coming year that we can answer these and the many more questions posed so we may connect with you at social gatherings, sporting events, career events, service events, online networking, and more.
The second breakout session, led by Jim Brown, the new Director of Marketing and Communications, enlisted the Board’s thoughts on our relationship and identity as Marywood graduates. Our insightful board provided feedback on our Catholic identity, relationship to IHM, our mission, our small campus community, the arboretum, and so much more. As Marywood undergoes many changes, one thing will remain the same - our identity as Marywood graduates is unique and personal that seems to be defined not by what we studied in books but by who we are and what we do for our world.
Our board is working very hard to bring you closer to the days when walking across campus was the only path you needed to take to see your friends, attend an event, or do good for your community. Although those campus days are behind you now, the Marywood paths are still there and I welcome you to come back home. Please feel free to send any ideas or suggestions my way to help us connect you with others.
