Meetings
The minutes were taken and distributed by Debbie Brouillette, Executive Secretary. The agenda of each meeting was sent to the President of the University prior to the meeting.
During 2004-05, thirteen meetings of the Academic Council were held.
Accomplishments
The following work was done by the Academic Council during the 2004-05 year:
- Advanced nineteen part-time lecturers;
- Recommended plan to re-structure Academic Support Areas;
- Participated in budget formation for 2005-06;
- Named representatives to various University committees;
- Recommended revisions to PT/OL Remuneration Scale;
- Recommended Enrollment Management Plan;
- Approved draft new forms for course syllabus and teaching evaluations and submitted to Instructional Effectiveness Committee;
- Approved Implementation of FOCUS Program;
- Reviewed possible suggestions for Grand Marshall and University MACE Carrier;
- Revised Draft Intellectual Property Policy to be submitted to the Policy Committee of the University in 2005;
- Continued work on policy for Undergraduate Excused Absences to be submitted to the Policy Committee of the University in 2005;
- Worked on schedule for Fall Convocation and Constitution Day;
- Continued work on technology issues;
- Prepared for Academic Affairs Committee meetings, Trustee Day and Commencement
In addition, the Academic Council is used as a forum for sharing of news across
the units in Academic Affairs as well as for information sharing by the Vice President to the units. This is the conduit for personnel in key roles in Academic Affairs to be kept abreast of planning, discussions and decisions happening in the President's Cabinet.
