Douglas Lawrence is a faculty member of Marywood University, where he is a former Chair of the Communication Arts Department. He also serves as the Program Director of the Health Communication Program. His latest Documentary, "Sacred Rituals" was presented the prestigious Jimmy Stewart Award. Lawrence is the author of five books published by Putnam, Perigee and Walden Books. He has produced a film for the Department of Education, and continues to present communication workshops and seminars. He presented the keynote address for the World Health Organizations, World Health Day. Lawrence produced, directed and wrote the music for the Play Narrative: George, The Pullman Porter. He was morning news producer for CBS affiliate WYOU TV and has numerous other productions to date. In addition, he co-composed the alma mater for Holy Cross High School. He did vast research in the Peoples Republic of China, working in a teaching hospital and studying at the Nanjing Medical University to complete his dissertation. His current research includes investigation into patient/physician relationships centered on communication issues. As an avid hiker, he believes in the connection of art, self-awareness, and joy as a connection to progress on our planet.
