Active Minds

Active Minds is the only organization working to utilize the student voice to change the conversation about mental health on college campuses. By developing and supporting chapters of a student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy group on campuses, the organization works to increase students' awareness of mental health issues, provide information and resources regarding mental health and mental illness, encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed, and serve as liaison between students and the mental health community. Through campus-wide events and national programs, Active Minds aims to remove the stigma that surrounds mental health issues, and create a comfortable environment for an open conversation about mental health issues on campuses throughout North America. Ally Club

This club provides a safe forum for GLBTQ (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, questioning) or straight populations. It is open to undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The club also provides education about the GLBTQ population and relevant issues concerning this population to the student body and community at large. Social events and activities are sponsored throughout the school year.

Anime and Japanese Club

The Anime and Japanese Culture Club is an interactive club that allows students to experience Japanese culture, and Japanese animation (anime) in particular. Some examples of activities are watching anime, cooking Japanese food, sharing and discussing Japanese music, playing Japanese Video Games, etc. The club also goes on field trips to anime conventions, and to other Japanese culture or anime related events and hosts events on campus such as karaoke competitions and Japanese or anime related movie screenings.

Autism Speaks

Autism Speaks U Marywood University is an official chapter of the national organization Autism Speaks. Members of Autism Speaks plan fundraisers to help fund research and other programs to benefit autistic individuals and their families. The CMYKlub at Marywood University aims at providing students with a place to share ideas on artistic design in a modern world. The club works collectively to expand knowledge in realms of color, shape, line, composition, typography, photo manipulation, advertisement, and other various areas of design. The club also prepares students for entry-level work and aids them in portfolio layouts, social networking, gallery work, clientele and other company related agencies.

College Democrats

Marywood University College Democrats is an organization of similar
minded students that generally support the platform of the Democratic
Party of the United States. Our group serves to increase political
awareness and activism on campus, regardless of party or beliefs. All
students are welcome to attend meetings, even if they disagree as
political discussion and cooperation are paramount in the progress of
our nation. As members, students will have the option of coordinating
with local, state and national political campaigns by canvassing,
phone banking, and registering voters in the local community.
Political internship opportunities are also available to those that
are interested.

Marywood Players

 Marywood Players,  are the only offical student-run theatere club on campus. Students have opportunities to go before the footlights and behind the scenes in faculty-directed major productions, as well as student-directed workshops and productions. Any and all aspects of theater production are explored! We are known for fundraising, service projects, informal and formal performances, trips, and fun get togethers!

Peers on Wellness

The purpose of this organization is to increase awareness and participation in the following six wellness dimensions: social, physical, intellectual, cultural, emotional, and spiritual. The wellness peer educators present educational workshops and programs, distribute monthly newsletters that address health and wellness-related issues, and observe and coordinate activities during various nationally recognized awareness weeks, i.e. National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week.

Pugwash Environmental Club

This Marywood University club is dedicated to promoting advocacy for and awareness of environmental issues. Goals include educating students and faculty about environmental awareness on campus, promoting environmentally friendly use of natural resources, and to be an organization which students can sustainably enjoy nature by taking nature hikes and working closely with the Marywood Arboretum Committee. Ultimately, the club works towards helping the University becoming a "green campus," that which is energy efficient and ecologically friendly.

The mission of the Student Alumni Association is to join the students of today, yesterday and tomorrow through contact and experience by University events, projects, and programs. The Student Alumni Association will also help students contact Alumni to assist in the advancement of their desired profession or postgraduate school. The Student Alumni Association will also be responsible for developing students to be effective and future Alumni leaders so they can assist in guiding students as they were once guided.

Students Organized to Uphold Life (SOUL)

Students Organized to Uphold Life is an organization formed by students who come together to respect all forms of life, at all stages. Members of the club meet two times a month to discuss topics concerning life issues and how the sacredness of life is jeopardized through the acts of abortion, euthanasia, capitol punishment, etc. We also raise awareness of these issues and usually attend the March for Life in Washington D.C.

Volunteers in Action (VIA)

Volunteers in Action (VIA) is a club for students interested in community and on-campus service projects. Students have the opportunity to gather with others who have similar interests, to learn about and sign up for service opportunities, and to assist with planning events sponsored by the club. Everyone is welcome to attend. Meetings are scheduled every other Monday throughout the academic year.
