Hurricane Sandy Relief

On behalf of Marywood University, the Office of Service-Learning and Community Service is coordinating efforts to respond to the recent devastation by Hurricane Sandy. Please join in the efforts in the following ways:

Donate Supplies

The following items are being accepted in Campus Ministry (Swartz Center) and the Student Activities Office (Nazareth Student Center) and will be delivered to recovering areas:

• Contractor size garbage bags
• Batteries (especially C and D)
• Canned food, nonperishable food
• Toiletries (toothpaste, deoderant, soap, shampoo, toothbrushes)
• Cleaning supplies (brooms, shovels, mops, 5-gallon buckets, paper towels)
• Work gloves, rubber gloves
• Visa gift cards in any amount

Clothing is not being requested. Any donated clothing will be taken to local organizations.

Volunteer

Since the storm, 78 volunteers from Marywood have helped areas of NY and NJ. Two additional trips are scheduled for Sunday, December 2 and Saturday, December 8. Volunteers will depart campus at 7am and return by 7pm. Students, faculty, and staff are invited. Limited space is available. Volunteers should bring long pants and jackets, rain or work boots, a bagged lunch, and bottled water.

We encourage you to donate to the American Red Cross, which continues to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to those affected by Hurricane Sandy.
