Activities Throughout the Year
Big Friends/Little Friends: After School Program at Valley View Housing Development
Children need mentors to help them become the best they can be. Help with homework and plan fun activities, Mondays or Thursdays, 2:30-4:50 p.m. Transportation is provided. Sign up in Campus Ministry. For more information, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org .
Fair Trade Coffee and Chocolate
Is available year round in Campus Ministry. Our coffee comes from San Lucas Mission in Guatemala, where our students have gone on service trips and helped pick coffee beans. Our Fair Trade chocolate is made with cocoa from the Kuapa Kokoo cooperative in Ghana and is purchased through Catholic Relief Services.
Fall Semester Activities
The men's and women's basketball teams will donate all proceeds (including admission) and donations from a designated game to Catholic Relief Services to provide malaria nets for children in Africa.
Take 60 seconds and sign a pledge to help mobilize the world towards international peace.
Help a family in need by providing all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner. This project is in partnership with United Neighborhood Centers.

Christmas Giving Tree - November through Mid-December
Share holiday cheer with people in need in our local community. Christmas Giving Trees are set up in Regina Hall, Nazareth Student Center, and the McGowan Center. Trees have ornaments for children of all ages, elderly persons, and homeless individuals. Members of the Marywood community are invited to take an ornament, purchase an appropriate gift, and deliver the unwrapped gift with tag attached to Campus Ministry, Swartz Center for Spiritual Life, by the specified deadline. Gifts are donated to Friends of the Poor, St. Anthony's Haven Men & Women’s Shelter, Our Lady of Peace Residence, United Neighborhood Centers, EOTC, and Holy Family Residence.
Spring Semester Activities
During this eight-hour hunger awareness journey students fast in solidarity with our hungry brothers and sisters around the world. Donations go towards alleviating global hunger.
Campus Ministry sponsors an Easter basket collection during Lent. Baskets filled with tags for children of all ages are displayed in Regina Hall, Nazareth Student Center, and the McGowan Center. Anyone interested in putting together an Easter basket for a local child should take a tag, prepare a basket with candy or other age-appropriate items, and leave the basket at Campus Ministry by the specified deadline. Easter baskets are donated to Friends of the Poor, United Neighborhood Centers, or Women's Resource Center.
Children ages 4-8 who are served by United Neighborhood Centers and Friends of the Poor are invited to campus for an afternoon of games, activities, entertainment, and food. This annual mini-carnival, now in its 18th year, is planned and faciliated by a team of 20 students. In addition, nearly 25 student clubs and organizations sponsor games and activities, and up to 100 student volunteers assist with food and become the the children’s “friends” for the afternoon. The application process for students interested in being on the planning team takes place in the fall semester. Volunteers, clubs and organizations who want to assist on the day of the event are recruited throughout the spring semester. KIDSTUFF 2016 will take place on Saturday, April 23, 1-3 p.m. For questions or to sign up to volunteer or host an activity table, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
