This coming Veteran's Day will be very special here at Marywood University. Marywood currently has more than 75 active military, veterans and family members attending our institution, some of which have just recently deployed with the PA National Guard in support of military efforts in the Middle East. In acknowledgement of their service the Student Veteran Alliance will be leading an entire day’s worth of activities to honor those who have fought for our country.
On Monday, November 12th we will be reading a list of more than 6590 names of fallen servicemen and women from Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. The event is open to the entire Marywood campus as well as the local community. Marywood has also agreed to participate in a nationwide simultaneous “minute of silence” at 11:00 a.m. pacific standard time.
Throughout the week of Veterans Day, roughly 6600 flags will be displayed on campus commemorating their individual sacrifice.
PLEASE DONATE $1 toward the purchase of the Flags.
The Student Veteran Alliance will be collecting donations outside the Main Dining Hall throughout the month of October daily from 11:30am-1:30pm. You may also bring donations to Lauren Williams in LAC Room 226B at anytime. Please participate in this very important event on campus.
Your donation will contribute to the creation of a Veteran Memorial on campus.
