David Reed is one of the most renowned abstract painters of our time. His sensuous works are bathed in a deep, glowing light, which seems to emanate from within. Moving to New York from the west coast in 1971, Reed gained recognition with bold reductive paintings that addressed both the great tradition of Abstract Expressionism and the ideas and processes of Minimalism and Post-Minimalism. His later work has been influenced by film and media while bearing witness to his interest in light and color phenomena in historic art. His work is held in major museum and private collections around the world, including The Maslow Collection at Marywood.
