MARYWOOD UNIVERSITY Motor Vehicle Regulations and Parking Information It
is the responsibility of everyone who operates a motor vehicle on our campus
to become familiar with the following information. These regulations have been established in order to
expedite the safe and orderly conduct of University business and to provide
parking facilities in support of this function. It is recommended
to lock your car to protect your belongings YOU ARE
RESPONSIBLE TO INSURE ALL COLLEAGUES, GUESTS, VENDORS, ETC., INVITED TO
MARYWOOD UNIVERSITY abide by ALL
motor vehicle regulations and parking information contained herein. We request your cooperation and
observation of the motor vehicle regulations. I. MOTOR
VEHICLE REGULATIONS A. Parking regulations are enforced on all University calendar days
during the fall and spring semesters. A valid permit must be displayed on the
vehicle. During the summer and
all break sessions, no permit is needed; however, all parking regulations
must be followed. B. It is not necessary to purchase more than one parking permit. C. Disabled faculty/staff and students must obtain a handicapped decal
from their respective State Department of Motor Vehicles to park in a
designated handicapped spot on campus.
A VALID Marywood University Permit must also be displayed. D. Parking permits must be displayed on the rear-view mirror. PERMITS
NOT DISPLAYED PROPERLY WILL BE
TICKETED. Vehicles are not
considered registered unless the permit is displayed. Permits will be returned to the
Security Department upon request.
II. VEHICLE PERMITS STUDENTS: Students
are charged a registration fee of $100.00. This fee enables the permit holder to park the vehicle in
any designated spot on campus. Permits can be obtained by going to the
Security Department located in Nazareth Hall. Vehicle Registration and student ID cards are needed to
obtain a permit. The permit is
valid for the entire academic year.
If the permit is lost/stolen, it must be reported to the Security
Department immediately. FACULTY: Faculty and staff permits are issued as
needed. The permits are valid
for the duration of employment.
A permit may be obtained by bringing your vehicle registration to the
Security Dept. VISITORS/GUESTS: Temporary parking spaces are provided to visitors
free of charge. A one day or
temporary pass can be obtained by contacting the Security/Safety Department
located in Nazareth Student Center, 2nd Floor or by calling (570 348-6242). No permits are required on campus
after 8:00 PM (Monday—Friday) during the fall and spring semesters. Guests coming on campus after 8 PM
may park legally on all campus roadways and parking lots. No permits are
required during times when school is not in session, however, all signs
restricting parking must be observed. All
parking lots require a permit to park unless noted otherwise above. Designated parking lots are
restricted to the entrance signs on each lot during the fall and spring
semesters. The
parking lots are designated as follows: ALL DESIGNATION SUBJECT TO REVIEW AND CHANGE A. Tennis Courts/Maintenance:
Open to all permits/Visitors B. Lower
Visual Arts Lot: First Two Rows- Upper Class Residents Only/
Remaining Lot Open to all Permits/Visitors C. Visual Arts:
Faculty/Administration, Commuter Students D. LAC Lot: Faculty/Administration
Only E. PAC: Commuter Students, Faculty/Administration
Reserved Section F. Circle: Faculty
/Administration/Visitors Only G. Nazareth Small Lot: Staff Only H. Nazareth Large Lot: Commuter Students Only I. University Ave Hill: Open
Commuter/Upper Class Resident Students J. McGowan Center: Open to
all Permits/Visitors K. Mellow CAW: Open to all Permits/Visitors, Faculty/Admin L. Bethany Hall- Upper Class Residents M. Softball Field- Freshman Residents Mandatory/ All Permits N. Maria Hall- Fac/Admin,
University Advancement, Admissions IV. TRAFFIC REGULATIONS Students/Employees
obtaining a parking decal are responsible to inform other operators of their
vehicles of the Marywood University regulations. The registered individual
will be responsible for all violations of parking and traffic regulations. Permit-holders are not permitted to
loan, re-sell or otherwise permit use of this decal on any other vehicle. A
vehicle will be considered in violation: (A) IF NOT REGISTERED (B) IF STOPPED OR STANDING IN A FIRE LANE (C) IF PARKED IN A NO PARKING ZONE (D) IF PARKED IN A RESTRICTED AREA (E) IF SPEEDING OR DRIVING RECKLESSLY **The
cost of a parking violation is $25.00 Any
Vehicle parked in a fire lane/handicapped space are subjected to being towed
at the owner’s expense. Dunmore/Scranton Police will also enforce handicapped
parking regulations on campus. V. VEHICLES
NOT REGISTERED Any
vehicle parked on campus that is not registered will be ticketed, and the
license plate will be recorded. After the third time a vehicle has been
ticketed for not being registered, a warning decal will be placed on the
vehicle. The operator has 24 hours to register the vehicle. Failure to
register will result in the vehicle being wheel-locked. The operator must
take the following steps to have the boot removed: a) Register the vehicle b)
Pay a $25 wheel-lock removal fee c) Pay all outstanding tickets. VI. REGISTERED VEHICLES ALL vehicle operators must recognize Security/Safety Department Personnel has the authority to question the use of a particular lot, or deny access to a lot. Application for and receipt of a permit constitutes agreement to follow all parking regulations. Registered vehicles that accumulate in excess of $100 in tickets, and fail to pay, will be subject to having parking privileges revoked. If this action is taken, no refund of the permit fee will be considered. Re-instatement of parking privileges will only be considered after all outstanding parking tickets have been paid. Speed on campus is limited to 10 m.p.h. Vehicles should be locked at all times. MARYOOD UNIVERSITY ASSUMES NO RESPON-SIBILITY FOR VEHICLES PARKED ON CAMPUS. VII. VIOLATION APPEALS Any individual may appeal a ticket they believe was issued in error by completing a violation appeals form. Forms are available in the Security/Safety Office. A decision will be returned in two weeks by mail. VIII. MISCELLANEOUS The
following blocks in the Borough of Dunmore are restricted to PERMIT PARKING
ONLY: 1300 & 1400 College
Avenue, 2200 Madison Ave., 1300 & 1400 Woodlawn St., 2100 Adams, 2100
& 2200 Jefferson Ave. These
residential permits give exclusive use ONLY to the particular homeowner or
resident. The following blocks
in the City of Scranton are restricted to PERMIT PARKING ONLY. 1200 University Ave., residential
side only, 2400 Dimmick Court, both sides, 1200 Seminary St., residential
side only, 2300 N. Washington Ave., residential areas with homes only, 2500
N. Washington Ave., residential areas with homes only, 2200 Adams Ave., 2300
Adams Ave., residential side only, 1200 Woodlawn St. These residential permits give
exclusive use ONLY to the particular homeowner or resident. ACCIDENT/EMERGENCIES: If you require assistance in the event of an accident/emergency, or to request a walking escort, please contact the Security/Safety Department at 348-6242 or use the emergency phones located in the parking lots.
