Procedures for Mail Handling

In light of the recent events, we have prepared some Procedures for Mail Handling to handle suspicious packages received by mail.

Condition Orange:

In response to the federal government's elevated Homeland Security threat level to Condition Orange (high), Marywood University has instituted a number of heightened security measures. The measures are comprehensive and involve various departments within the University, and include: meetings and ongoing contact with administration and emergency response teams, increased Security/Safety patrols on campus, review of emergency procedures with Student Life staff, and enhancing the University's overall security posture.

"While the University has not received or been alerted to any specific threats to the Marywood campus, we want to assure the community that we remain vigilant in maintaining the highest security measure possible at this time of higher national alert," said Mr. Joe Ross, Chief, Campus Security/Safety. "Students, faculty and staff should go about their normal business but should report any suspicious activity immediately to the Security/Safety department."

In the event of an actual emergency, the campus community will be notified through a variety of mechanisms including e-mail and voice mail.

Students, staff and faculty are reminded to be aware of suspicious behavior and circumstances such as unauthorized individuals in restricted areas, abandoned parcels, bags, vehicles, or other items. Anyone wishing to report suspicious activity should contact Security/Safety at (570) 348-6242.
