Why did you choose Marywood?

It’s close to home, and that was important to me. Marywood offers great programs, including my major, and I love the facilities here. When I was in high school, I was a leading golfer on Prep’s team, and Marywood’s golf coach, Eric Grundman, actively recruited me. I have to say that my experience has been better than I expected in so many ways.

What are your academic interests and career goals?

I want to become an Academic All-American (GPA above 3.3) and to consistently be named to the Dean’s List. Career-wise, I have my sights set on playing golf for a living, working my way up hopefully to the PGA tour, and, as a plan B, I would then like to become a golf pro or own a pro shop. That’s why I’m pursuing a major in Retail Business Management. I want to use both my athletic and academic interests in my future career.

In addition to golf, what other activities or service work are you involved in at Marywood and in the community?

At Marywood, I help the golf team with fundraisers to benefit the team and the athletics program. In the community, my favorite service activity is my involvement with the Family-to-Family Program, which provides meals for so many families in this region during the holidays. I am super fortunate in my life, and I want to give back to those who are less fortunate.

How do you balance academics and sports/activities and still manage to excel at both?

Good time management. I know that in order to be successful, I have to do things like go to my teachers if I have questions and keep up with my classwork. I work hard and I practice hard. It can be difficult to do both, but it’s also an individual experience. Each person has to take a good look at who they are and how they work and develop a plan for both studying and practicing for their sport.

What has been your favorite Marywood experience?

I have made wonderful friends. Our golf team includes great people, some from other areas of the country and others who are local, so it has been a good experience for me to know them and develop our friendship. Also, while at Marywood, I have had the opportunity to play in a national championship and meet people through that experience. I think it is really special that Marywood has taken its golf team so far in such a short time—we finished in the top 20 in the national championship last season. I am honored to put on the green and gold every time I play.

What have you learned during your time at Marywood that you think would be helpful for other students or student-athletes to know?

Learn how to manage your time. Be honest with yourself about how you work and what you want to accomplish. Most of all, enjoy the process; I’ve had a very positive experience at Marywood, and I would choose Marywood again, 100 percent. The people here are a tightknit community, and it’s wonderful to be around positive people.

Marywood's School of Business and Global Innovation offers bachelor's degrees in a variety of business fields, including retail management.
