Dr. Patricia Richards-Service Selected as Fulbright Specialist

Patricia Richards-Service, Ph.D., instructor in the Communication Arts department at Marywood University, was recently notified by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and World Learning that she has been recommended by the Peer Review Panel for placement on the Fulbright Specialist Roster for a tenure of three years.

As a candidate on the Fulbright Specialist Roster, Dr. Richards-Service is now eligible to be matched with projects designed by host institutions in more than 150 countries globally. The Fulbright Specialist Program is unique among programs in the Fulbright portfolio in that host institutions lead the project development process. This ensures that any outside expertise requested through the Fulbright Specialist Program meets a need that the institution has identified as a critical area for its growth and development

Dr. Richards-Service earned a bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in journalism from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. She later earned a master’s degree in health care administration from The University of Scranton and completed master’s-level coursework in communication arts at Marywood. She has also completed continuing education courses in health care at Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania, and she earned her doctoral degree in human development from Marywood University.

While a Ph.D. candidate at Marywood University, Dr. Richards-Service earned a Fulbright-Schuman student research grant to the European Union. She conducted research on early intervention and best practices in breast cancer prevention efforts and was affiliated with Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, in addition to conducting research in Romania using European Union policy archives.
