Our "Get Your Masters with the Masters" MFA program study tours meet each spring and fall, and are held in New York City or other large cities where students take advantage of the multiple visual, historical, and professional resources beneficial to the art director, graphic designer, illustrator, new media artist, and art educator.

Visits to museums, the Society of Illustrators, Art Directors' Club, AIGA, major advertising agencies and studios of well-known illustrators and graphic designers expand the students' knowledge of "the greats" in the field. Classroom experiences are provided in New York at various art schools where many celebrities in the profession meet with MFA students to share their know-how and to critique student work.

Award-Winning Professionals

These talks and visits include artists, agents, illustrators, art directors, book designers, and publishers. These pros, when listed, sound like a Who's Who of the communication business in America. Valuable contacts are a result of these experiences. All the MFA teachers who teach within this program are not only award-winning, nationally and internationally recognized art, design and illustration professionals, but also excellent teachers with years of teaching experience. Many of our visiting artists come to Marywood to teach in the summer session for our program.

Our past sessions have included visits with Marshall Arisman, Scott Bakal, R. O. and Nicholas Blechman, Ivan Chermayeff & Tom Geismar, Seymour Chwast, Rodrigo Corral, Ray Cruz, Paul Davis, Stephen Doyle, Emily Flake, John Gall, Steff Geissbuhler, Bob Gill, Milton Glaser, Rodney Greenblat, Steve Heller, Brad Holland, Mirko Ilic, Maira Kalman, Liz Lomax, James McMullan, Matt Mahurin, Scott Menchin, Mel Odom, Rafal Olbinksi, Tony Palladino, Edel Rodriguez, Robert Sabuda, Zina Saunders, Paula Scher,  Ed Sorel, Ultra Violet, and Dan Yaccarino.
