Stewartia pseudocamellia

Native to Japan. Small to medium deciduous tree. Has good autumn colors of yellow, red and purple. Has single white Camilla-like flowers from June to August. Older bark exfoliates to reveal a camouflage-type pattern. Prefers rich organic soil with shelter from afternoon sun. Difficult to establish. Dislikes heat and drought.
