River's Purple Beech

Fagus sylvatica 'Riversii'

Native to Europe. Deciduous tree to 60' tall and 50' wide, slow growth rate. Does best in full sun, moist, well-drained, acidic soil. Bark is light grey and smooth. Good tree for large, open areas. Leaves are a deep purple in color which tend to fade as the season progresses.
