Betula nigra
Native to eastern United States. In the wild found along streams, rivers and floodplains. Adaptable to drier sites. Prefers full sun. Often multistemmed, deciduous tree, grows to 50'. Fast growth rate. Medium green leaves turn yellow in autumn and drop quickly. Best known for its exfoliating bark of brown, tan and white.
