Native to eastern United States and Canada. Large deciduous tree, grows to 70' tall or more. Very fast growing tree which causes wood to be weak and break easily during storms or heavy snow load. Leaves are bright green above and silvery below. Very tolerant of urban conditions causing it to be overused as a street tree.
