The Marywood University Alumni Association hosts dozens of events around the country each year as well as Reunion Weekend in the summer and Homecoming in the fall. This page will recap some of what we have been doing recently and what you may have missed.
On September 19, alumni and friends of the Marywood Alumni Club or Northeastern Pennsylvania traveled to the beautiful Seneca Lake Region of New York to enjoy tours and tastings at some of the most renowned wineries of the area. Ready to taste and most certainly ready to enjoy, alumni of all ages gathered together to celebrate the tastes of the region, as well as a sense of community over one of life's most classic indulgences: good wine. Palettes were pleased as alumni sampled creations from Leidenfrost Vineyards, Red Newt, Hazlitts, Chateau LaFayette Reneau, Penguin Bay Winery and Champagne House - with a variety artisan wines to choose from, who wouldn't have loved this trip?
Homecoming 2009 could not have gone off any better than it did. On Saturday, attendees were greated several events worth highlighting. Fallfest brought together many aspects of university life and integrated them all in to one dynamic event. Various clubs and organizations were on hand to provide fun for all ages. Pumpkin painting, bake sale treats and trick or treat bags (sponsored by our very own SAA) were some of the activities you could have partaken in. Oktoberfest was the next event on the list. Attendees were able to sample some of the best beers of 2009 and eat some of what the real Oktoberfest has to offer. Anyone within the greater Scranton area couldn't miss the fireworks at 7:30. They lit the sky over Marywood and provided a wonderful atmosphere for all onlookers. The night couldn't have ended without a return to Andy Gavins. Once there, attendees had the ability to re-unite with past friends and create new friendships that will last forever. We are already looking forward to Homecoming 2010, are you?
Some of our alumni and friends were lucky enough to tour Ireland a few weeks ago. This journey took them through all the hot spots in Ireland and featured a pub or two, of course. Be on the lookout for the next trip as it will surely sell out fast.
Everyone had a wonderful time at the Philadelphia Phillies game on Tuesday. Its a shame they had to lose but that didn't keep the faithful Marywood crew from having a great time. Check out some of the photos from the event.
Be sure to check out our pictorial slide show of the event
Be sure to check out some of the photos that were captured during this years Players Reunion. it was a wonderful time for all. If you couldn't make the event, we hope that you will enjoy the pictures.
On July 12th, the Bowie Baysox took on the Altoona Curve. The crowd was roaring when Catcher Guillermo Rodriguez blasted a go-ahead home run in the sixth inning. The Baysox bullpen did their job as the Baysox defeated Altoona 4-2. We couldn't have asked for a better game.
