For those students majoring in Spanish (but not seeking teacher certification), 33 credits in Spanish language courses are required. Students concentrating in one foreign language are encouraged to begin the study of a second foreign language. A double major in French and Spanish may be pursued by taking 24 credits (beyond introductory level) in the second language.
Students pursuing the teacher certification program in Spanish, in addition to the 30 credits in Foreign Language coursework, must also fulfill the certification requirements through the Department of Education. Students should also consult the Education Department for a description of admission and retention criteria.
