Following requirements of the State of Pennsylvania for certification in secondary education, the History/Social Sciences: Secondary Education program requires students to complete a 24 credit major in
history with additional courses from social science (24 credits) and an educational component of 27 credits. The total number of credits required: 133. Certification for the teaching of social sciences on the elementary level is also available through a program coordinated by the Social Sciences and Education departments.
