The graduate degree in Music Education prepares students for teaching vocal or instrumental music on the K-12 level as well as in some colleges and universities. Upon completion of the degree, graduates are eligible to apply for permanent teacher certification. A degree in Music Education at Marywood offers a wide variety of specializations: elementary (K-6) or secondary (7-12) level in band, orchestra, and/or vocal/general music settings. Others may choose to work in more narrowly defined fields, such as early childhood music education, curricular design and instruction, music technology, administration, or other venues.The Music Education program also offers students the opportunity to explore professional partnerships with colleagues in other disciplines such as education, psychology, technology, art, business, and theatre.
