"Riding in Cars with Boys" Author Beverly Donofrio to Visit Marywood
Author Beverly Donofrio, best known for her memoir, Riding in Cars with Boys, will be coming to Marywood on Thursday, April 4, at 7 p.m., in the Upper Main Dining Room, Nazareth Student Center. This event is free and open to the public.
In 2001, Ms. Donofrio's Riding in Cars with Boys, was made into a major motion picture starring Drew Barrymore. Her latest work, Astonished: A Story of Evil, Blessings, Grace, and Solace, was released in March 2013.
"Her works are known to a wider audience, and I want people to engage in literature as a living thing," Dr. Helen Bittel, associate professor of English, explains. "When an author of her stature speaks, people are able to visualize the ways in which literature continues to be relevant in our lives."
Ms. Donofrio's writings have appeared in national newspapers and magazines, such as the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, New York Magazine and The Village Voice.
