Dr. Simmons specialization in philosophy is ethical theory, bioethics, environmental philosophy and animal studies. Recently he has been working on a book on the moral standing and mental capacities of animals as well as a series of papers on the moral importance of empathy. He earned a B.A. in Philosophy and Environmental Studies at Oberlin College and his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Bowling Green State University. He will be teaching Introduction to Philosophy, Critical Thinking and Bioethics.
