Are technology resources available, used effectively to enhance the learning experience, and designed to prepare graduates in your major for successful technology use in their careers? |
Yes. Marywood University is committed to providing high quality, usable technology for its students, faculty and staff. This commitment includes access to the Internet and World Wide Web, as well as sharing of institutional data, as appropriate, in a real-time, on-line environment. Evidence of this commitment is the Marywood data infrastructure, which began in 1987 and is continuing to grow. This infrastructure consists of fiber optic backbone, voice, data and video wiring, desktop and laptop computers, midrange computers, the campus-wide information system, computer labs, networks operating under the client-server architecture, gateways to the Internet and World Wide Web, multi-media instruction and demonstration theaters. An impressive selection of the latest technology is offered in the new Insalaco Center for Studio Arts and the newly renovated Visual Arts Center. There are five labs with specialized CAD, graphic design, photographic, and illustration/drawing software. The fiber optic backbone connects all major classroom and administrative buildings. Twenty-one buildings, which include the seven residence halls, have been wired for voice, data and video. There are two dedicated ten megabit ethernet connections provicing access for the residence halls, Administrative and classroom networks. The Library provides a web interface to the public access catalog, which can also be accessed on and off campus. The library subscribes to 58 Internet accessible databases/ resources. There is an Electronic Reserve server that provides access to reserve materials over the Internet. You will find a description of Instructional Computer Facilities in our Fact Book on our website.
