Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life (#453)

Hours:

35 hours per week, 52 weeks. per year
8:30 am to 4:30 pm with evening and weekend duties

Summary of Duties

Assist with the management of a comprehensive housing services, conduct system, and resident life program.  To fulfill the mission and goals of the University, the Assistant Director collaborates in the planning, policy formulation and administration of all services and educational programs of the office, while also serving in a supportive role in the activities of the Student Life Division. 

Responsible for the day-to-day supervision and evaluation of the graduate-level Residence Directors.  In addition, this individual is responsible for coordinating and supervising the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation process of the graduate-level Residence Directors and Resident Assistants.  The staff member should promote staff teamwork and assist in coordinating staff duty/area coverage.  The Assistant Director will collaborate with the Director of Housing and Residence Life to participate in a rotating "on-call" weekend and evening professional staff coverage to respond to emergency situations and staff or student needs. 

The Assistant Director will assist in developing and implementing learning objectives and assessment methonds to assure a variety of appealing educational, cultural, social and spiritual development programs to enhance the learning environment in the residence halls, consistent with the goals of the department and the University's Mission.

Responsible to serve as a conduct hearing officer, Title IX investigator, and on various University and Student Life Division committees, as appointed. 



Requirements

  • Educational:

    A  master’s degree in higher education or a closely related field. 

  • Work Experience Requirements:

    One to three years of housing and residence life experience. 

  • Special Qualifications:

    Energetic self-starters who understand and appreciate the University’s Catholic mission and values. 

  • Essential Elements:

    Excellent oral and written communication skills are expected as are strong interpersonal and organizational abilities and technology competence.
