Assistant Professor - School Psychology
Summary of Duties
The Marywood University Department of Psychology/ Counseling seeks an Assistant Professor of School Psychology for a full-time (nine month) tenure track position beginning August, 2017.
The primary responsibilities of this position will involve directing the school psychology program along with teaching, research, and service in a specialist level school psychology program seeking NASP accreditation.
The Department of Psychology/Counseling offers undergraduate, and master’s programs in psychology, as well as an APA-accredited Psy.D. program in clinical psychology and CACREP-accredited graduate level counseling programs. The School Psychology program leads to Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) certification in the state of Pennsylvania. As such, it has a long tradition with training in this area, having been offered by Marywood University for more than 70 years.
Marywood University is a comprehensive Catholic university sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and located in northeastern Pennsylvania.
A Doctoral degree in school psychology (Ph.D., Ed.D.) from an APA or NASP approved doctoral training program in school psychology is preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered.
Work Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 3 years of practice in the PK-12 setting as a school psychologist is preferred. Applicants with specialty in the areas of mental health counseling, student-based consultation, and working in a three tiered model of service delivery are particularly desirable. Successful candidates will provide potential for effective teaching and scholarly growth.
