Two Tenure Track Faculty - School of Architecture

Summary of Duties

The School of Architecture at Marywood University, Scranton, PA, invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Architecture beginning in the 2013-2014 academic year. The successful candidates will be actively engaged in the continuing development of a recently-established School of Architecture that seeks to formulate and implement innovative pedagogies in architectural education and to create a learning environment that focuses on environmental stewardship and sustainable design. The School opened in the fall of 2009, offers degrees in Architecture and Interior Architecture/Design, and has a current enrollment of nearly 250 students. Students and faculty pursue experiments in collaborative learning in a uniquely renovated building that received LEED GOLD certification for its initial phase of reuse.

The successful candidates will participate in the development of a creatively structured and experimental Fifth-Year and/or Sixth-year design studio sequence – one that terminates in the B.ARCH. or M. ARCH. professional degree (a “4 + 2” graduate degree sequence). Candidates should be able to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

 



Requirements

  • Educational:

    Applicants must have an advanced professional degree in architecture (M. ARCH. or above) and demonstrated experience in teaching and professional practice. Professional licensure and LEED accreditation will be considered advantageous qualifications for this position.

  • Work Experience Requirements:

    Additionally, candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: environmental systems, structures, digital media, building assemblies, and/or history/theory.  All members of the faculty engage in teaching, scholarship and service, including student recruiting and advising.
