Assistant Professor of Biochemistry, Tenure Track Position

Summary of Duties

The Marywood University Department of Science, Mathematics, and Computer Science seeks an Assistant Professor (Biochemistry) for a tenure track position beginning August 2018.

Responsibilities:

Teaching lecture and lab courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels; student advising, research and scholarly publication; service to the University, community, and department; related program responsibilities; serving on thesis and dissertation committees; and grantsmanship. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Biochemistry I and II for Science majors, Biochemistry for Nutrition & Dietetics majors, Organic Chemistry for Nutrition & Dietetics majors, as well as other Chemistry-based courses for Science majors and non-Science majors as needed by the department including laboratory sections. Candidates should have plans to develop courses for upper level Science electives in their field of expertise. 

The Department of Science offers Bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Pre-Physician Assistant, Mathematics, Computer Science, Biology (Pre-Chiropractic) and Medical Laboratory Sciences. It also offers a non-thesis Master’s degree in Biotechnology.

Requirements

  • Educational:

    Required: Ph.D. in Biochemistry or related field, evidence of relevant research, scholarship, and teaching experience are required. Applicants should be able to present evidence of experience and/or preparation in teaching chemistry related topics.

    Preferred: Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching both science majors and non-science majors, such as Nutrition & Dietetics or other health professions. Applicants with background and interest in Environmental Science are also strongly encouraged to apply.
