Institutional Funds and Endowed Scholarships
I.H.M. Graduate ScholarshipsI.H.M. Graduate Scholarships are made possible through the generous I.H.M. Scholarship Gift of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Awards are based upon academic excellence and financial need and may be used for tuition only (excluding fees).
Endowed ScholarshipsEndowed scholarships are used to defray the cost of providing I.H.M. Graduate Scholarships to meritorious graduate students in master's and doctoral programs at Marywood University. The I.H.M. Graduate Scholarship was founded in 1983 by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who teach in a special summer project. Their desire is to assist individuals in achieving their professional goals in the graduate programs. The Sister M. Cuthbert Donovan Scholarship was founded by Sister M. Cuthbert Donovan, I.H.M., Dean Emerita, to provide tuition scholarships on the basis of academic merit and need to alumnae/alumni of Marywood University for attendance in the graduate programs. The Eugene L. Raymond Memorial Scholarship was established in 1966 in memory of Eugene L. Raymond, a charter member of the Development Council of Marywood University. Income from this endowment is made available for scholarships to worthy students who are being trained to work among children in the fields of psycho-education and psychotherapy. The Sister M. Bernardina McAndrew Scholarship was established in 1974 by Sister M. Bernardina McAndrew, I.H.M., to provide scholarship assistance to a graduate psychology student on the basis of academic merit and need. The Irenee Dupont Scholarship was established in 1974 to support scholarship assistance to students of business and computer science. The Thalia Ann Thomas Endowed Scholarship was established by Ms. Thomas in 1997 to provide assistance to candidates for the M.A. in Art Therapy or MFA degree. The Fergus Monahan Scholarship was established in tribute to Dr. Monahan, first Dean of the School of Social Work. The fund has been and continues to be built by contributions from alumni and friends of the School. Awards are made by the School's Scholarship Committee to students with demonstrated financial need. Social Justice Scholarships provide an incentive for students to develop skills in work with poor or oppressed groups and communities. Each year, the School of Social Work designates a number of agencies as eligible for Social Justice Scholarship placements, and students who undertake their practicum assignments there receive scholarship awards. The Harriet Chikowski '42 Scholarship was established by Ms. Chikowski, herself a dedicated social worker, to reflect her concern for families. The award gives preference to students who maintain employment in work with multi-problem families and/or troubled children. |
