"I am currently attending Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ working on my MSED in Special Education and coaching field hockey at a local high school. Once I complete my Masters, I plan on completing course work to get my endorsement as a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant.Marywood's undergraduate program in Special Education prepared me with the necessary background and understanding of students with special needs to enter a Master's program at another university with the confidence that I can use what I learned at Marywood in order to excel in grad school and in my future career as a special educator. My most beneficial experiences at Marywood are being involved in the student chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children which allowed me to present at state and national conventions with classmates and also having close relationships with the professors because their guidance and support has become priceless."

"I was a dual major in both elementary and special education, and I am currently in my second year as the teacher of an autistic support classroom at the Robert D. Wilson Elementary School in the Western Wayne School District. I feel that the experienced, caring professors and staff at Marywood University went above and beyond, providing me with the training, knowledge, and confidence to be extremely successful in the field of special education. Specifically, the knowledge that I have obtained from Marywood in the areas of behavior management and applied behavior analysis definitely gave me such an advantage during my first year of teaching. I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Arter and the rest of the special education department at Marywood."
- Jessica Schield, Class of 2007
